For Immediate Release:

Milton – Rep. Doug Broxson (R) sent the following letter to Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) expressing his frustration as well as the frustration of the many residents and business owners along Avalon Boulevard for the lengthy delays in completing construction.

Rep. Broxson stated, “We are convinced the general contractor, Midsouth Paving Inc., failed in their professional and ethical duty to our community.  My office has received numerous calls from constituents relaying their anger of how long this project is taking.  We have also worked with several businesses along Avalon Boulevard that are struggling to operate because of the prolonged construction delay.”

The four-lane project of Avalon Boulevard began in 2009 and should have been completed by October 2015.  It is now projected to be completed by February 2016.

“We greatly encourage the Florida Department of Transportation to impose every contractual penalty on Midsouth Paving Inc.” advised Representative Broxson.
